VCHA, the newest global girl group, discusses training and pre-debut singles | Young Entertainment Mag

YEM returns with an exclusive interview with the members of VCHA, a pre-debut global girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. The group, which consists of Lexi, Camila, Kendall, Savanna, KG, and Kaylee, was created from America 2 Korea, a reality show competition and collaboration between JYP Entertainment and Republic Records. VCHA is the first group of its kind, where American girls are trained under K-pop’s system of discovering and developing talent. The group has been training in Seoul, South Korea, and just recently announced their pre-debut single called SeVit (NEW LIGHT) along with the music video for the title track “Y.O. Universe”, which has already garnered over seven million views on YouTube.

We asked the new group about their name, and they said VCHA comes from a Korean word that means to illuminate and shine on. If you want to hear more about VCHA, check out the video below!

YEM returns with an exclusive interview with Anabella Raye, who plays Kate Ford, on Long Slow Exhale, an American women’s basketball television drama. The series, created by Pam Veasey, premiered in 2022 for Spectrum Originals and BET. The show follows J.C. Abernathy, played by Rose Rollins, a coach of a women’s college basketball team who finds herself in the middle of a potentially career-ending sexual abuse scandal. Abernathy is forced to make decisions and do everything she can to protect herself, her players, and her career. Anabella is the daughter of Sela Ward, an Emmy Award winning actress.

We asked Anabella about how playing Kate on Long Slow Exhale was different from other roles in the past and she said the intensity of the role was something she really needed to lean into. YEM returns with an exclusive interview with Doug Rockwell and Tova Litvin, an Emmy-nominated songwriting/production team and married couple based in Los, Angeles, California. They have worked on many television shows and films including the popular Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The show, which ran for four seasons and starred Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett, was inspired by the High School Musical film series. Doug and Tova worked together to create the song “Born to Be Brave” on the show.

We asked Doug and Tova about working together as a songwriting team and married couple and they said it was a dream come true to do so as they both have mutual goals and a passion for what they do. YEM returns with an exclusive interview with Isabella Bennett, who plays Edie, one of the elves and Santa’s helpers in The Santa Clauses. The Christmas comedy television series premiered on Disney+ in 2022 and serves as a sequel to The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause film from 2006. In the first season, Scott Calvin, played by Tim Allen, is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizes he can’t be Santa forever and wants to return his family to the normal world. Scott sets out to find a replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure outside of the North Pole. After a six-episode first season, the series was recently renewed for a second season.

YEM returns with an exclusive interview with Catherine Bradley, an actress and now writer in the new Dear Rebel: 145 Women Share Their Best Advice for the Girls of Today book out this October. The book is a new addition to Rebel Girls, a digital media company and children’s book publisher, founded in 2016 by Elena Favilli. Rebel Girls is dedicated to women empowerment and focuses on providing inspiring role models for young girls, from contributors including Melinda Gates, Drew Barrymore, and more. Catherine and her two sisters used to read Rebel Girl books growing up and they will now have their own poetry featured in the new book.

We asked Catherine about writing and she says it is one of her favorite ways to express herself and she hopes to continue doing so in the future.

YEM sits down with creators of new movie Love at First Sight, Jennifer E. Smith and Vanessa Caswell to get the exclusive details behind the shooting of this sweet love story. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, here’s a quick overview – it’s a love story for the ages and an absolutely incredible adaptation of Jessica E. Smith’s book where Hadley Sullivan (played by Haley Lu Richardson who you may recognize from the 2019 drama Five Feet Apart) as she finds herself on the same flight as a mysterious and attractive stranger, Oliver Jones (Ben Hardy). The two spend the hours from New York to London falling madly in love. However, when they get off the plane, they get separated at customs and Hadley and Ben then have to figure out how to find each other again.

YEM returns with an exclusive interview with Jordyn McIntosh, who plays Maya in The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. The film premiered on Hulu in 2022 and is based on the 2014 New York Times bestselling book of the same name by Gabrielle Zevin. It tells the story of bookstore owner A.J. Fikry who is struggling after the loss of his wife and financial struggles with his bookstore. He feels lost in this period of his life and hits rock bottom when one of his most prized possessions, a series of poems from Edgar Allen Poe, are stolen. Yet one day, a mysterious package appears at his bookstore and it takes him on a journey of learning more about life and love than he ever expected.

YEM sits down with Aitch Alberto, writer and director of new feature film Aristotle and Dante Discover the Universe, for an exclusive interview! If you haven’t seen this movie yet (and you really should) here is a little overview – it is a film adapted from the book by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, about two teenage boys who meet over the summer at their local pool and instantly have a connection despite their different interests. The story is told over the course of a few summers as the boys discover more about themselves, their families and each other.

We talked with Alberto about how she wanted to tell this story and how she wanted to display these characters. We also discussed the challenges of working on a movie like this and the logistical as well as social aspects of the project. She talks about working as a team and what the behind-the-scenes environment looked like while shooting.
